HIGH-END SOUND, BIG, DEEP, WIDE AND CLEAR
Premium German Walnut finish
They will be tested for a local Ottawa area buyer at the front door with a vintage amp and CD player.
Due to size and extreme weight local pickup much preferred, but can be shipped if really needed, keep reading.
Fairly common/popular in Europe, but extremely rare in North American market.
This pair came straight from original owner, as a trade-in for Tannoy Berkeley;
it appears to have all original drivers and crossovers.
Consecutive serial numbers; matched pair.
Pure and natural sounding, these Canton compare favourably to new ProAc, Totem, B&W and PMC speakers selling for many $$$$ of dollars.
The overall quality, craftsmanship and engineering are second to none.
The midrange is natural, the highs are intoxicating and extended, without being bright, and the bass
is separate and detailed, with the sense of "oomph", true to the recording.
Rave reviews by Stereoplay 11/82 and Hifi Stereophonie 12/82
* Made in West Germany
* First version (1983-1987 production)

that's how much they would sell for if made today.

* Impedance: 4 Ohms
* Sensitivity: 93.4 dB (fairly easy to drive, despite low impedance rating)
* Frequency response: 18 - 30,000 Hz (first version)
* Max power input: 110 Watts nominal/ 160 Watts dynamic/
* Dimensions, each speaker: H x W x D (cm) 66 x 36 x 33
* Net Weight, each speaker: 21.5 KG, HEAVY !
* Metal grilles
* Tweeters: 1-inch, pure Titanium with custom metal tweeter protective covers
* Woofers: 12 inches, coated paper type
* Midranges: 4 3/4 inches, treated paper
* X-over points: 450 Hz, 3100 Hz
* Everlasting rubber surrounds

I highly recommend a premium quality amplifier/preamp to reveal the full potential of these speakers,
Pioneer M-90, Sony N77ES, Marantz 1300DC, Accuphase E-303, Rotel RA-1312, Kenwood Supreme 600/700M, etc..
They also sound super sweet with a Telefunken TA-700 or Marantz 2252, just not as dynamic as with high power amps.

QUOTES (Google search):
"when i worked at the stereo store 1984 i liked them better then the ns 1000
all sales people in the shop agreed"
"A friend had a set of ct-1000's that i thought were great.
We often compared them to his l100's which we would switch between.
I think the ct-1000 was a far better sounding speaker to my ears.
Much more of balanced sound with more accurate bass trebble and midrange than the jbl's.
They also had very heavy, nicely built and finished cabinets which are some of the better i have seen used in a vintage speaker.
Just my .02"

Local buyer much preferred (cash on pickup);
Interac e-transfer is possible, but can be slow, takes anywhere from 2 min to 35 min, depending on bank, day and time.
Local pickup or shipping only, no deliveries, no half-ways.
Can be shipped in Canada if needed, packed nicely with PP foam/styrofoam (Interac e-transfer only for payment), tracked/insured.
Shipping costs: $440 ON/QC, $495 to Alberta, $550 to BC.
I've been collecting vintage stereos for a long time, so trades for old receiver, amplifier, CD player, speakers in any condition will be considered.
