"ER-5 is a "step-up" interconnect that has been proven to meet all of the rigid standards set for Lucasfilm THX™ certification. As with Twinax and other XLO/VDO cables, all conductors are formed from specially drawn "four nines" (99.994% pure) OFHC copper. This is more costly but significantly better than the ETP ("Electro Tough Pitch") copper used by some other brands. The conductor geometry for both Twinax and ER-5 are similar, but ER-5's conductors are of a heavier gauge. Also similar to Twinax (and some other XLO cables) special low dielectric-constant forming members are used to maintain constant conductor spacing and minimize electrostatic effects.ER-5 features full copper-braid shielding and (yes, the outer jacket does affect the sound) an outer jacket extruded from Dupont Elvax.
