Vintage Retro 50s Long Cocktail Dress Green Raw Silk Introduction

We will be dropping the item off to you, by your car, in our parking lot, This dress is from the 50s and the colour is pure 'Mad Men' - a wonderfully vivid green. It was hard to attempt to capture the colour in the photos as it is a bit mercurial in the light and photographs are never as good as eyes. It reminds me of the green clothing of the ladies of Tretchikoff's paintings. Even the styling has an understated look that was influenced by the orient at the time. It reminds me a bit of something Audrey Hepburn might have worn. It's just asking for a large necklace of multi-strand pearls or glittery rhinestones. In one of the photos I added a vintage rhinestone pin - just for fun (not included of course) This dress just spoke to me when I bought it - but alas it is too small for me. Wonderful swoop of fabric in both the front and back that give a bit of a faux wrap effect. The dress is extremely well made as it is hand-made. Ladies in those days clearly had more talent and time. The zipper is inset into the side and works perfectly. The lining is excellently fitted. Most likely worn once - possibly never. As it is hand made it has no tags so I neither know the fabric nor size. The fabric looks to me like a raw slubbed silk but I am no fabric expert. It is a very substantial fabric. The measurements are: 15" across the bust when lying flat. Across the hip area I would say 18". Arm pit to arm pit 15.5" Waist 14". Length 55". Thank you for looking at this dress.
