Sony TC-558 Auto-reverse R-R Deck, JUST SERVICED (Properly) Introduction

Wanting an open reel unit? Maybe you’re curious about open reel? (P.S. I just saw one of these on eBay for $950.00 and it HASN'T been serviced, PLUS shipping!) Well, here’s an opportunity that doesn’t come up very often. Dollar for dollar, this Sony TC-558 is one of the best units available. For starters, it’s a 6 head unit, yes, 6 heads! Three for each direction, which allows bi-directional, auto-Reverse recording and playback without having to flip your tape over. As you can see from the photos, the path and heads are in exceptional condition. With the Source/Tape select switch, you can monitor your recording to hear how it’s turning out. And let me tell, you’ll need golden ears to tell the difference between the original source and recorded program with this machine! It’s a 3 motor design, so when those reels start on rewind or fast forward, you better step back, this thing doesn’t waste time winding tape! The unit itself is super clean, the stainless steel face is amazing as is the rest of the unit. Comes with O/M , see pics. Here’s what I did to it: - Replaced faulty B+ regulator - New counter belt - Reset brakes - Cleaned all pots and switches and internal Rec/Pb slide switches - Set reel table height - FULL audio alignment (Meter, Rec, PB, Bias etc) - Align path (both directions) - Tested Rec/Pb, sounds frickin amazing! Why buy from me? I’ve been doing this since a lot of you weren’t even born. Over 45 years now. I’m fully qualified and have spent my life at this vocation. Keep in mind; You are buying a deck that comes with ZERO questions about it’s service history. The work I did would have been a $280.00 bill I’m not some wannabe poser with a can of cleaner and a rusty screwdriver, whose only claim to fame is that he was manager at a Big Box Low-Fi stereo store… And NO!
