Sony STR-GX67ES Elevated Standard Receiver – Ex. Condition Introduction
Sony STR-GX67ES is one of Sony’s ES or “Elevated Standard” audio receivers. Elevated standard components are built to a higher quality standard than other Sony audio products.
This circa-1990 100 watt/channel RMS receiver uses Optical Legato Linear A technology to permits smooth transition from low-power Class A mode to Class B operation maintaining very low-distortion. A “Source Direct” switch permits bypassing tone, loudness, and balance circuitry further reducing distortion. The result is great clarity and smoothness of sound. The phono stage is very good.
Although primarily a stereo receiver, basic Dolby Pro Logic surround sound and video switching are provided with center and rear pre-outs and rear-channel speakers connections. This is a heavy receiver (30 pound) due to the large power transformer. A Sony remote is included
The early 90s saw the last of the well-built Sony audio components before the cost cutters took over. Superb sound for the price.
