SAE Mark 2500 Stereo Power Amplifier 450wpc - 300wpc Introduction
I hate to use the term "museum quality" but this Scientific Audio Electronics MARK 2500 stereo power amplifier might just be. I bought it approximately early in 2018 with an inoperable right channel. I had it repaired in April of that year and it was given a near full rebuild to the cost of $350, receipt and used parts in pictures below. The same quality work today would cost close to $1000 and that's even if you could find somebody to complete the repairs, luckily for me I know an electronics genius who does this work as his main source of income. I have only used this amp very sparingly as I only listen to high sensitivity full range speakers and even at 1 on the volume knob it's a lot of juice.
With my taste in speakers I will never use this amplifier so it's time to sell. Weighing in at 68lbs she is a MONSTER! Puts out 300 watts per channel at 8 ohms and 450 watts per channel at 4 ohms. The fan gives off a wrrrrrrrr sound and I thought it was a bit loud while I listened at low volume levels but plugged in today the sound is not bothersome at all! Honestly even at 2 on the volume knob you will not hear any fan noise. Included with sale is original owners manual, some promotional leaflets, original test results, receipt for rebuild and all original parts that were replaced, there was about 80 parts replaced. BEWARE!!!! She puts out the power!! LOL. Will demonstrate prior to purchase.
