NAD 512 HIGH-END CD PLAYER WITH ORIGINAL REMOTE * SERVICED * Introduction
AN EXCEPTIONALLY MUSICAL CD PLAYER WITH PERHAPS THE MOST FAMOUS MN6474 MASH DAC/PROCESSOR
In my book (and I've auditioned hundreds of'em), one of top 3 NAD CD players ever made;
I'm talking sound quality here, not build; as NAD also made things like M5 (coming up for sale soon),
with more money spent on shiny exterior chassis than on inside components.
This is not to say that M5 is bad, not at all, it's just that 512 and M5 cater to entirely different buyer categories.
512 is for folks who love music and M5 is for individuals who love reading audio magazines.
Sad, but true.
Very hard to find fully working like this one, as all 90's NAD CD players have issues that must be addressed.
Please do not confuse 512 with later production T512 DVD player, they are totally different inside;
the T512 feels like a lightweight toy in comparison.
This NAD will be tested for local Ottawa area buyer at the front door with a nice vintage amp and speakers;
Can be shipped; keep reading.

QUOTES (Google search):
"Sure it doesn't sound like my proceed CD/DA combination but use it in my second system which consist mainly NADs it really sounds beautiful. The nad 512 sounds excellent with deep and wide sound stage, image is excellent."
"A very nice player at a great price. I had the outstanding experience to listen to a Mark Levinson system (No 37 cd transport and No 36 digital audio processor), a setup simply oriented only to the lucky ones, but in any case my point is that after listening to that $15000 system, the 512 is very good for just $300. There is a nice balance between the low and high frecuencies, good imaging and definition.
Oh man......
four big steps from my beginner sony cd. passes several of my most rigorous cd tests. for the money it is it. no bells and whistles...like the marantz 67se which i was considering buying. for an inexpensive introduction to the world of higher end cd players...nad 512 is it."
"STRENGTH:
Enters "Hi-Fidelity" level... has fairly natural, real, and involving musicallity.."
"I hooked it up and powered it up the light works the door opened so first I put in the "Sinatra Live at Sands"
and wow it works and sounds great and nicely balanced to. Next up is a Living Stereo
CD of Ravels Bolero Conducted by Charles Munch it suppose to be on of the best recorded
versions of this piece along with the La valse, sounds a little more clearer and deeper to my
ears compared to the NAD 5425 Player I have which sounds a lot warmer and rolled off a
little more in the highs which a lot of players did back in the late eighties I guess to smooth
out those lovely early harsh digital recordings."
"And how does this player play? As for the technical parameters it is just fine.
The noise is almost inaudible under the low level signal.
The reproduction of music can be described as neutral.
And the sufficient strength, vigor and expressiveness will not fatigue you during the prolonged listening to a CD on this device."
"NAD players do sound incredibly good for the price.
The 512 and 520 I think were my favorites sonically."
