DESIGNED IN USA, MADE IN JAPAN
Top of the line 1982-1984 Marantz integrated amplifier model
(PM-25, PM310, PM350, PM450, PM510DC, PM550DC, PM750DC)
North America version, all 24K gold plated connectors and shielded power transformer.
See the pictures.
The world voltage version is different.
VERY NICE, SUPER CLEAN, SERVICED, ORIGINAL NEVER REPAIRED COLLECTIBLE CONDITION, WORKS AND SOUNDS LIKE NEW
Hard to find like this
The service manual indicates this model was done by Superscope, not Philips.
This means it's still classic Marantz.
Classic transistor amp design sound is smoother/sweeter than almost all newer IC chip based amps.
It will be tested for a local Ottawa buyer at the front door with record player and CD player.
Can be shipped; keep reading.
Basic maintenance service done 08/2022:
* Taken apart
* Cleaned and detailed in and out
* All controls, switches, contacts, RCA jacks and potentiometers deoxed/lubed using pro grade D100/F5/G5 ($126/3 cans);
* Relay cleaned;
* Bias voltages adjusted to factory specs for best sound/amp stability = 8mV L/R at 1 min after power up;
(very important for famous correct Marantz sound)
* LED power meters adjusted to factory specs;
* FM MPX adjusted for best sensitivity/separation and reception in Stereo
* Re-assembled
* Fully tested at full power with all inputs for stable oscillation-free performance
Gorgeous sweet and clear Marantz sound!

The 550DC and the 750DC:
The circuit design is very similar.
Both amps sound similar to Marantz 1550, Marantz 2265B, Marantz 1152DC.
That sonic signature is different from pre-1977 Marantz: much more clear/transparent to the source;
The clarity is simply amazing.

QUOTES (Google search):
"So it all looks good, but best of all the nice surprise is that is sounds REALLY nice :music:. A bit like the Yamaha CR-820 I restored, a lively dynamic sound, very pleasant, good bass as well !"
"I have to say this one sounds REALLY nice to me after recap.
And that's comparing it to pieces (restored as well) like a Yamaha CR-820, a Marantz 1060, a 2220 and my modern Marantz PM8005 :)"
"Sorry for late answer, I've been busy for some timePM550DC is a great amp. I had it for a while, paired with ST310 in system B:
The sound from that old amp was fabulous - new amps can't come even close to it.
I am always sad when I have to sell something, but parting from that piece was THE biggest mistake I've ever made..."
"The Sound of Marantz is the compelling warmth of a Stradivarius.
It is a dancing flute, a haughty bassoon and the plaintive call of a lone French horn.
The Sound of Marantz is the sound of beauty, and Marantz equipment is designed to bring you the subtle joy of its delight.
Wonderful adventures in sound await you when you discover that the Sound of Marantz is the sound of music at its very best."
