harman/kardon PM645 amplifier - vintage value!

harman/kardon PM645 amplifier - vintage value! Introduction

Stylish and sweet-sounding, this amp comes straight out of the eighties with its minimalist lines. At only 4 inches tall it looks small for an amp, but it has good weight for the size. harman/kardon was famous for designing their amps with more power than advertised, so they can be pushed harder, and go louder, longer, than other designs with the same power rating. This amp is rated at 40 watts per channel, but it really has about twice that amount available. It may not sound like much, but that’s actually plenty of power to play practically any size of speakers as loud as you want. It’s a minimalist design with just a handful of cool features, including a headphone amp, fully-adjustable bass, treble and balance controls, and a ‘bass contour’ to add more bass when needed. The speaker connectors are big and beefy, and will easily fit just about any size of wire. It has connections for up to 5 devices, one of which is for Phono so you can hook your turntable up to it directly, without the need for a separate phono preamp. The other four can be used as AUX inputs with any device that uses RCA connectors. This amp has just been checked and adjusted to factory specs, everything’s working as designed, and besides a few light marks here and there this amp also looks great! The subdued red LEDs for various functions are a nice change from the overbearing, bright blue light that seems to be the default these days. Asking $125. As always, you’re welcome and encouraged to fully test the amp in person prior to purchase.
