I am thinking of trying to sell off my collection of Collectible Automobile magazine. Except for four issues I am missing, I have every issue going back to the very first issue from May, 1984. These are expensive magazines because of the high-quality paper and photography, but mostly because, unlike almost all other car magazines, which have more advertising than features, Collectible Automobile has only six pages of advertising in each issue of approximately 100 pages, including on the inside front and back covers, and it is all inside advertising for subscriptions, back-issues and books by the publisher's parent company. No outside advertising. A single back-issue direct from the publisher is $12.95 USD plus $4.50 for shipping, and there would likely be a customs duty added. The current cover price is $14.95 a copy, which comes to nearly $17.00 with tax. This is a test balloon of sorts, trying to see if there's a market out there for these magazines. The money I'm asking may seem like a lot, but it's a fraction of what I paid for them, and what they are potentially worth. Almost without exception, all of the issues in my collection are in perfect, or near-perfect, condition. Here are the first six issues, in a slip case.
