Good-looking, reliable, fantastic-sounding; this Sony TA-F444ES II amplifier is all of those things, at a reasonable price. Sony’s ES line - meaning Elevated Standard - has always represented their cost-no-object components. They’re built to last forever, sound as good as anything else out there, and look great. And this beefy but beautiful amplifier is no exception. It’s big and heavy, with a power rating of 100 watts per channel; all the knobs and buttons are metal, and move with a smoothness that oozes class - it sounds like a weird thing to gush about, but it’s just one example of the quality and attention to detail that went into its construction. It has a Phono input so you can directly connect a turntable without needing a separate preamp; it can also handle both MM (moving magnet) and MC (moving coil) cartridges, so any quality of turntable will sound its best! It also has four more sets of RCA inputs, and each one can be used as an AUX input to connect any of your components. There are two sets of speaker connections, so you can hook up two different pairs of speakers simultaneously. Everything works exactly as new; the amp had some basic cleaning and maintenance done, but has never needed any repairs. There are a few small scrapes and marks here and there along the edges of the faceplate, but there’s no significant damage anywhere, and nothing that’s noticeable from more than a few feet away.
