I have a complete stereo setup.. Bose 901 Series IV speakers, Sony Receiver STR-V4 and Sony Turntable PS-LX430 with a Sony cartridge VL-45G. These speakers comes with it's own equalizer because they are designed to be setup with the speakers at the back so the sound reflects off the wall behind them. The equalizer is to compensate for the sound absorbed by the walls. With 8 speakers on the back of each and 1 in front you get the whole room filled with sound and you don't have to sit exactly in the middle between them to get the perfect listening spot. The receiver has a tape monitor switch to include the equalizer in the setup. You need this in order to get the best sound out of them. The speakers can handle almost unlimited power.
