Keep in mind we often get what we pay for....
Not any 6922 tubes can be used, only the ones graded for phono stage, especially if it is a moving coil.
However, if you can put up with the noise level then most 6922 will work.
Is it not odd that purchasing thousands of $$$$ in tube amps/ pre and then using much cheaper Chinese or Russian tubes?
Manufactures use them because they are cheap and reliably easily available.
However who is testing them for selected strength and low noise, the wastage is high!
When we purchased a dozen Sovtek 6922's, and had to throw away at least (6-7) for every (1) quiet one. It was 2 years ago we bought a dozen in white boxes and all but 2 of them are so noisy, really sketchy quality.
Also they did not last too long, we were on a second set in less than a year, so not 100% on their reliability, even hoping they would have lasted way longer.
Our recommendation would be vintage Philips Amperex or Siemens 6922 tubes @ $180.00/matched pairs
Vintage tubes are proven to last so much
